The barrier facilities at Ellegaard Göttingen Minipigs ensure that we produce and develop high-quality Göttingen Minipigs with a unique health status.

 

We breed Göttingen Minipigs in two independent and separated barrier units to ensure their microbiological quality. The barriers are based on our respect for the animals and their welfare, on our respect for the environment and on our respect for our dedicated employees.

Barrier-bred Göttingen minipigs have a unique health status and based on FELASA recommendations they are health-monitored twice a year. They have been tested for a wide range of pathogens, and they are genetically and microbiologically defined, which makes them a reliable model for pharmacodynamics, pharmacokinetics, toxicology, experimental surgery, clinical research and basic science.  

Several precautions are taken on a daily basis to ensure that the barrier conditions are maintained and improved.
