Handling & Dosing

With the correct handling of minipigs, the animals are cooperative during trial procedures and the procedures can be made without exposing the minipigs to unnecessary stressful situations.

Minipigs are cooperative during the various procedures of a study period, if they are handled correctly. The correct handling of the minipigs makes the procedures easier and more convenient for both staff and animals. We emphasise the importance of socialising the pigs, so that they get used to human contact and are prepared for the handling procedures. This should be done already in the acclimatisation period. At Ellegaard we have many years of experience with handling the Minipigs and we would like to share this with you.

In connection with this, we offer handling courses at our facility in Dalmose, where participants are trained in the handling of minipigs. We can arrange a course especially for you and your colleagues where the content of the course can be tailored to your specific needs and interests. You also have the option of receiving training at your own facility.

Further details regarding our handling courses are available and you are welcome to contact our Laboratory Technician with questions on handling in general.

Please inquire for our DVD with further details on the handling and dosing of Minipigs.
